Registration is now open for DPMI’s summer 2021 certificate program, taking place August 2 – 20!
The 3-week intensive Program on Design, Partnering, Management and Innovation (DPMI) equips activists, students, and young professionals with social change tools, skills-based learning, and theoretical knowledge to spark change both domestically and internationally. Throughout the program, participants develop a portfolio of work products that they can present to current or future employers and upon completion of DPMI, students receive a professional certificate.
Join us on Wednesday, June 16 at 2 pm EDT/11 am PDT to learn more about DPMI. During this one-hour session, the DPMI program director, Dr. Beryl Levinger will introduce the program’s curriculum, approach, and emphasis on the Sitka Tribe of Alaska. Past students will also share their experience in DPMI and how they’ve applied the skills they learned in their careers. Session participants will be invited to ask questions about the program taking place in August 2021. Register for the information session here.
Launched in 2003 at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, DPMI has more than 2,200 alumni. The program shifted from a graduate school to Root Change in 2021 to offer participants additional opportunities to engage with social change practitioners.
The program places a heavy emphasis on social change tools, including local systems mapping, appreciative interviewing, local context analysis, problem trees, participatory theory of change development, lean experimentation, proposal writing, and much more. Participants will work closely with the Sitka Tribe of Alaska’s Cultural Resources, Education and Employment Department to apply their learning to strengthen two projects. Throughout the sessions, students will engage with Sitka hosts and be immersed in the rich Sitka culture while learning about the tribe’s inspiring efforts to overcome systemic racism, discrimination, and environmental threats. Read more about DPMI and the January 2021 cohort’s work with the Sitka Tribe of Alaska here.
Register by July 23 to participate in the August 2021 DPMI program. Tuition for this session is $1,000. Learn more and register here.
